Assessment
Before a child is registered with us, we invite the family to come in for an assessment. This is not to put the child through another set of verbal/non-verbal or psychological tastings. The family already has had enough of those. The OpenMind Assessment provides us valuable information on the child’s abilities. This information is the spring board that launches the child into the next level of knowledge and skills.
After Registration
An initial learning plan will be designed for the child. The plan will be a working document that evolves with the child’s progress.
Professional Consultation
After a student has registered with OpenMind Alliance, the family may opt to receive a private consultation. This hour long consultation will cover the following areas :
- What is Autism ?
- How will it affect a child ?
- Brief discussion on school processes : IPRC and IEP
- Funding and other government service sources
- Parents’ tips on living with Autism
This consultation session will prove to be most beneficial to newly diagnosed families. Autism, by its own right, is an over whelming condition not only to the child but also to the family. A completely private and focused discussion help answer many questions the family may have. A knowledgeable family is better equipped to provide support and strong familial support is the child’s biggest asset. Our consultation service may be conducted in either English or Chinese.
